What are the benefits of box breathing? 

Box breathing is a great way to cope with stress, panic, anxiety, and/or whenever feeling overwhelmed. 

This breath work technique allows you to train your lungs to breathe rhythmically. Along with this, you are activating your parasympathetic nervous system which signals to your body rest and relaxation rather than the sympathetic nervous system which is responsible for the 'fight or flight' responses. 

This technique can be used in any setting, as the people around you most likely won't even realize you are doing it. 

How to do Box Breathing 

Step 1: exhale all the air from your lungs 

Step 2: breath in through your nose and count to four 

Step 3: hold that breath in for four seconds 

Step 4: exhale for 4 seconds

Step 5: hold breath again for 4 seconds 

Step 6: repeat 4-5 times or as many times as you want to feel relaxed!
