A possible trip to Ottawa National Forest/ the UP Throughout the Seasons
Ottawa National Forest
Right across the border going into Michigan from Wisconsin is the start of Ottawa National Forest. There are many things to do in this area during all the seasons and lots of different places to see.
During the summer big activities are hiking, camping, ATVing,
dirt biking, fishing, and swimming. There are many ATV trails that you can take
that connect to other trails and/or that connect to each other. For hiking you
can pretty much take a small hike wherever you are but there are also trails
that you can take for a longer hike! There are also many campsites that you can
use, either for an RV/camper or just a tent. Fishing is also a lot of fun to do
at any of the many lakes that are in the forest. Just make sure to know if you’re
allowed to be fishing in certain areas or if it is just catch and release.
In the winter/fall there are also many activities to do such
as snowmobiling, skiing/snowboarding, hiking, ice skating, and hunting. You can
rent or bring your own snowmobile and use it on any of the trails that are
available to you to use. Just make sure you have the right registrations.
