Interview with Nic on Weightlifting
I wanted to ask an experienced weightlifter some questions and
to share their insights and own experience of their weightlifting journey. Also,
to provide myself and my blog someone else’s thoughts on the matter. I decided
to interview Nic who was a student athlete in high school and has continued
lifting into his life after high school.
The first question I asked Nic was: “When did you first
start weightlifting?”
Nic’s reply: “I first started weightlifting in 2015 for high
school football”
My second question: “What got you into weightlifting and why do you still weightlift today?”
Nic’s reply: “What got me into weightlifting in the first place was football, because I was a freshman and scrawny, so I needed to gain some more muscle. I still weightlift today because I like how it makes me feel, I like to set and achieve goals, and I like to get exercise in general.”
My third question: “What is the most important aspect of
weightlifting to you?”
Nic’s reply: “Dedication is most important because if you
want to see results you have to work out every day and make it apart of your
everyday lifestyle. If you take a day off, you will see the loss.”
My fourth question: “What was the biggest struggle in your
weightlifting journey?”
Nic’s reply: “Realizing that results or actually progress
will not come until your nutrition and physical activity match up and you are consistent.
The real key is realizing it takes time for your progress to show, sort of like
an investment in yourself. You have to invest in knowing that you will be persistent
with your workouts and nutrition to see results and keep at it for a long time.”
My fifth and final question: “Do you think that nutrition or
physical activity is important when trying to make gains in weightlifting?”
Nic’s reply: “Physical activity is extremely important if you want to change physical appearance and for sculpting your body more. So, after you have lost your weight and you are the way you want to look then you start lifting and sculpting your body. If you want to change your weight, how you feel, and energy levels then nutrition is the most important I believe.”
